Cutting Down a Walnut Tree for Backyard Garden Preparation
| Condition of cutting down a medium-sized walnut tree |
Hello everyone.
In the warm and pleasant spring weather, we began the tree-cutting work with the goal of finishing within one month. Instead of using a chainsaw, we are using a handsaw. Even so, a trunk diameter of about 30~40㎝ is still quite something. Muscle soreness is definitely unavoidable.
Cutting down trees that had grown in the same place for such a long time made me feel a little sad. However, thinking that they will be cut into smaller pieces, used as fuel material, and eventually returned to the soil, my feelings of gratitude are even stronger. I believe there will be moments later on that remind us nothing goes to waste. We continue the work.

As for the larger trunk sections, the work mainly tests the physical strength needed to carry them. However, when it comes to the smaller branches, endurance is also required. Since this area will eventually become a seedbed for our home garden, we need to properly collect the branches as well, otherwise it will create more work later on. At first, I thought they might become good compost, but it is hard to imagine branches fully composting within one year. It is better to gather them all into one place.

Gathering them together was one thing, but I was wondering what to do with all these branches. Fortunately, it seems there is no need to worry. A neighbor has decided to make use of them. I can only feel grateful for that.
