Frosty Morning Garden Work: Seedbed Preparation, Soil Improvement, and Blueberry Pruning Guide
Good morning everyone. This morning here we had frost columns forming on the ground. Lately, during the daytime, we can feel some warmth from the sun, but in the mornings and evenings, it still feels quite cold.

Starting early this morning, I worked on preparing the seedbed (CW). That said, it was really just digging up the soil for the first time since the stump-removal work. There were still lots of leftover roots from the stump removal, as well as stones of all sizes scattered around. It was quite a rewarding job. The soil in the lower area, furthest from the road, looks almost like a lawn. I cut the grass there last summer, but now it has turned into dead grass, transforming into good compost. I also swapped the deeper soil with the surface soil. It seems to be good soil.

So far, there are no signs of mole activity. Maybe they’ve gone somewhere because of the cold. As the season progresses, it will start to be the time when deer and wild boar appearances become a concern. By the way, I haven’t taken any countermeasures at all. I’m planning to get around to it eventually.
I also pruned the blueberry trees that were planted last summer. I noticed a bit of moss on the joints of the branches, but I decided not to worry too much about it and just observe how things go. I continue working while hoping for delicious fruit. Right after planting, they looked like they were dying, but from some of those dead-looking branches, I could see new, lively shoots growing. I’m glad they’ve come back to life.

I am also grateful to the people who gave me these blueberry trees. I will take good care of them so they can grow large and produce plenty of fruit. Thank you very much.
Well then, that’s it for today!
